It seems that McCarthyism is controlling who gets jobs in California.
After Wendy Gonaver was offered a job teaching the Protection of Constitutional freedoms. However, the day before class was to begin, her employment was cancelled all because she did not sign a loyalty oath swearing to “defend” the U.S. and California constitutions “against all enemies, foreign and domestic.”
As a Quaker (non-violence) she objected to the loyalty as an infringement of her rights of free speech and religious freedom.
This method of detection was something that was used during the McCarthy witch hunts for communist, now it seems to be aimed at all walks of life.
Now it seems that although it is still is the land of the free, unless you’re willing to sign a loyalty oath, you won’t have the freedom to work anywhere you want.
