I recently came across some pictures of Lower Earley and its surroundings in 1949 on a great web site called www.britainfromabove.org.uk. They have been posting images taken from the air of the UK over a number of years and had published numerous images of central Reading, this one and others on the website are the first I’ve seen of the wider surrounds of Reading.
I taken one of them and marked up some of the locations and then done the same with a Google Earth snap of the same area – though the same perspective is difficult to achieve – to make a comparison. Enjoy!
