The Dixie Chicks are back…

Caught up with some VCR recordings yesterday and saw the Dixie Chicks on the Later with Jools Holland BBC show, great to see them back after suffering so much negative publicity and abandonment by their USA critics.

Another good example of a country that can’t take any criticism of itself or its unpopular actions. I don’t think that the Dixie Chicks need shed any tears for any Country & Western fans that have abandoned them. There are far more mainstream music fans that now appreciate them and their music.

Another group I saw on the same show was Gogol Bordello, champions of gypsy-punk as this genre was described! But what a highly energetic and entertaining group, more from them in the future I am sure.

  1. Michael… don’t generalize! 😉 Many of us have liked the Chicks BEFORE and still AFTER Natalie’s comment… but, yes, C&W fans are typically “God Bless America” and they don’t like rich folks talking out of place. But as more and more of their families are effected by this war things are changing. Nothing like having a bit of reality to deal with to make you open up your opinions. As to Gogol Bordello, listening to them on Napster right now. If you like them you should look up the Red Elvises (http://www.redelvises.com/). They’re NOT on Napster but they have a very similar sound. We typically catch them at Musikfest (2 weeks of music all over the city of Bethlehelm, PA… you can take your beer to go and wander from ‘platz’ to ‘platz’ eating food, listening to tunes, and generally having a great time!).

  2. Couldn’t agree more, same is true here in the UK as more UK servicemen die in the conflicts more questions are being asked.Listened to bit more music from Gogol Bordello, as I said before very energetic group, look forward to seeing them on the ‘box’ again soon.
