A while ago I wrote two posts about a possible intention by the current Labour Government to consider a replacement for the UK current and aging Trident Nuclear missile system that is carried on board certain UK Nuclear Submarines.
I have already set out my opposition to any replacement as it will be a waste of money for the protection (if any) that it is proposed to give to the UK population.
One of the posts related to my encouragement that everyone in the UK should write to their MP’s using the TheyWorkForYou or WriteToThem web sites (where you make direct contact via email) to find out what their MP thinks about the subject as to ascertain how they will vote.
I wrote to my MP, John Redwood with some basic questions about the subject and received the reply last week, unfortunately not a by email, but by post! Still at least I have had an acknowledgement of my concerns and what John Redwood will do with regards to the subject.
Here’s a copy of the reply, I’ll keep the blog posted on what happens next my reply to his letter.

Hi Mike,>>Thanks for your posts about Trident; I think they are really well thought-out. It’s interesting that Redwood says he is undecided about Trident – maybe we should interpret that as meaning that the Conservative party is waiting to see how public opinion swings.>>I wanted to invite you to a blog which some friends and I have set up which is meant to contribute to the public debate over Trident replacement. >>It’s at:>>nuclearpeace.wordpress.com>>Basically, we try to review all the arguments as fairly as we can, although probably some of our anti-Trident bias creeps in. And we hope that in the end a lot of people will be commenting on the blog and using the discussion as material to approach their MPs. >>We’d be really interested in your comments, as an ex-service man.>>Best>>Ben
