I’ve been following the online betting story as it unfolds for the various players as the USA assembles it prosecution case against the various companies and people involved.
Some things seem odd to me, why has USA has taken such drastic action, is it because they didn’t come up with the idea in the first place? Of course one has to consider that this prosecution is taking place in a country that has one on the worlds largest Pornography industries in the world, much of it online and accessible by overseas (relative to the USA) visitors!
Looking at one of the stories (USA Today) that came to my desktop this morning shows that their seems to be a degree of focus on the share of the online betting millions that are not getting to the USA Treasury.
One has to surmise that if online betting had been developed in the USA and the home industry was paying all its relevant taxes to the USA Treasury, then any court case would have been sorted out ages ago (like Pornography was!) and the USA would now be reaping all the benefits.
Sounds like a bit of not invented here I think.
